WILLEMSTAD – Tonight Curaçao will be graced with another energetic performance of renowned DJ Hardwell. During the second edition of the FACE IT dance party, held at Kleine Werf, the audience is sure to enjoy the latest pulsating beats of the world’s #1 DJ.
It’s safe to say that Hardwell has a love affair with Curaçao. He’s been preforming in Curaçao for the past decade and loves every minute of it. “The island feels like home, man! Of all the places I can go, Curaçao has been the only location I choose to go on vacation”, he admitted.
Any day now, Hardwell will hear if he’s been chosen for the third year in a row as the world’s #1 DJ. “It’s such an honor, because the fans are the ones voting for their favorite on the DJ Mag website, not a panel or jury”, he explained. And he’s managing the pressure very well by focusing on the experience instead of the pressure and expectations. Although he might not be the highest earner, because he made a conscious choice not to produce radio friendly music exclusively, and therefor isn’t dominating the charts like his other contemporaries. But that’s about to change in 2016. “I will tour less and get more into the studio”, he promised. Hardwell is about to release a single with Jason Derulo, called “United we are”, from his latest album.
But Hardwell hasn’t forgotten where he comes from. “I made a conscious choice not to jack up my performance fees, so I can continue to perform in places like Curaçao. I started out as a Hip Hop DJ, so it’s at places like this that I can show some variety”, he continued. During last year’s performance in September, Hardwell surprised everybody by incorporating local tunes during his repertoire and promises to up the ante during tonight’s performance.
Born as Robbert van de Corput, the 27 year old Dutch DJ is currently considered best European DJ and has received a double IDMA for best remixer. The multitalented producer, musician, and label manager is also a humanitarian, as he discussed the upcoming free December concert/fundraiser of the United We Are Foundation in India. “When I visited India, I was disheartened by the realization that homeless kids were sleeping under my billboards. This prompted me to start this initiative to produce the largest dance party in the world, where we’re expecting over 100.000 people. With these funds we plan to build 40 schools and provide six years of free education for the students”, he explained.
Besides Harwell’s performance, super talented DJ’s Dannic en DJ Naffz will also get the party started. The Show starts at 8 PM and promises to be an unforgettable evening. Tickets cost 75-, ANG for general admissions and VIP tickets cost 225-, ANG. and are available at Albert Heijn, Van den Tweel, Bruna, Pleincafe Wilhelmina, Quiznos and Gef in Sambil. Tickets can also be bought with Funmiles. For more information about the event FACE IT, check out the Facebook page of Face Events www.facebook.com/face.eventsco.
